Tips for Buying Exercise Equipment

Consider these tips before buying home exercise equipment...
Have an idea of what you want before you shop. Do you want to improve your overall health? Lose weight? Build muscle? Gain strength? Do you have physical limitations that prevent you from doing certain movements? Does one form of exercise energize you, while another bores you? Pick the type of equipment that matches your goals, needs and interests.

Know how much space you have available. Consider ceiling height as well as square footage and be sure to leave enough room to extend your arms and legs. A home gym designed for a complete and effective workout can fit into a room as small as 10 ft. by 15 ft. if you plan it right.

Know what you are willing to spend. If your budget is very modest, don't waste your money on shoddy equipment. A treadmill, for instance, should have a continuous duty rating of at least 2.0 horsepower to operate well. Also, check warranties carefully and opt for service contracts that provide regular preventive maintenance for your equipment.

Check all equipment for safety before you buy to avoid needless injuries. Also for safety reasons, make sure children are kept away from the equipment.
