Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. “What manufacturers do you represent?”

We are authorized to sell products from the industry’s major manufacturers – more than 40 brand names – including, but not limited to: Body Master, Concept II, Cybex, Life Fitness, Nautilus, Pacemaster, Paramount, Precor, SciFit, StarTrac, StairMaster, True, and Vectra. We also service ‘off brands’ that are sold through mass merchants such as Sears, Target, and Wal-Mart. Whatever you need in the way of exercise equipment, from purchase to repair to preventive maintenance to room layout, we can handle!

2. "What does it mean that you are an authorized ICON service provider?"

ExerTechnicians are trained and authorized to service any piece of exercise equipment made by ICON Health & Fitness, Inc. ICON is the world's largest manufacturer of home fitness equipment. Their products sell under the following brand names: Epic Fitness®, Gold's Gym® Home Fitness, HealthRider®, IMAGE®, Lifestyler®, ProForm®, Reebok® Home Fitness, Weider®, Weslo®, Freemotion® and NordicTrack®.

3. “Do you offer service contracts?”

Yes, we offer preventive maintenance service contracts on a monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly basis. Clients under a service contract qualify for discounted labor rates for emergency calls as well as benefit from a response time within 24 hours. Service contracts help to ensure that your equipment remains in top condition. An ounce of prevention is truly worth a pound of cure.

4. “Do you sell used and reconditioned equipment?”

Yes, we sell new equipment as well as used and reconditioned equipment. In fact, we always maintain an inventory of used and reconditioned equipment (and replacement parts) suited for a variety of needs and budget considerations.

5. “What is ExerTech’s warranty agreement?”

ExerTech repairs are warranted for 30 days from the date of the repair’s completion. This warranty applies to the specific diagnosis made on your equipment. If you purchased used or reconditioned equipment from ExerTech, it carries a full 90-day warranty. New equipment purchases are fully covered by the individual manufacturers; every manufacturer has its own warranty.

6. “Where can I find the model and serial numbers on my equipment?”

We need the model number and serial number of your equipment when ordering replacement parts or requesting repairs. The model number is usually located on the front cover of your manual and on the serial number sticker. The serial number is usually on a silver or white sticker found on the equipment. Check your user's manual for more directions on where to find the serial number.

7. “What should I expect when I request service from ExerTech?”

First, one of our ExerTechnicians will perform a preliminary diagnosis over the phone. Depending on the job’s complexity, one or more of our trained staff will then do the repair work at your site. Repairs usually involve cleaning, lubricating, adjusting, and sometimes replacing parts. Each job will be billed upon completion on terms of cash, credit card, or check. A job is considered complete when necessary parts are installed and the unit is working properly.

8. “Do you do more than sell and service exercise equipment?”

Yes, we also design exercise rooms for private homes as well as spacious facilities for corporate, commercial, and institutional clients. Our design services include detailed layouts of the space to maximize functionality. We occasionally work with our clients’ contractors (interior designers, builders, architects) to coordinate our floor plans with the overall construction project. In addition to recommending and supplying exercise equipment, we can provide accessories ranging from mirrors and TVs to flooring and front desk systems. We also network with fitness experts who can provide you with personal training, fitness management, and other wellness services.

9. “What types of accounts do you handle?”

Our client list is long and varied. Beyond private residences, we service equipment located in all types of fitness centers, hotel spas, apartment complexes, universities, and physical rehabilitation clinics, among others. We pride ourselves on catering to the individual requirements of each account so that no two jobs are exactly the same. Custom work is customary with ExerTech.

10. “What is your territory for sales and service?”
We’ve been servicing the Mid-Atlantic States for two decades. We can also ship parts and used exercise equipment anywhere in the United States.
